Religion And Belief

No analysis and observation of the development of British and Irish society could be complete without recognising the enormous contribution religion has played in that process. The grand cathedrals of mediaeval Europe, the outpourings of composers, poets and writers, the great social pioneers were influenced wholly or in part by the importance of their faith. The religious influence has caused times of peace and happiness and times of strife and turbulence.

IONA is secular and non-denominational. We publish the deeds of great men and women, regardless of whether they were Christians, pagans, atheists or something else and we publish historical documents and religious works without prejudice in order to give as complete a picture of our islands' story as possible.
